Zainab Rahim is an Iraqi Kurd American whose family immigrated to the United States as refugees to escape varying conflicts back in their home country. The perseverance of her parents to create a life for their children that far exceeded the one they were given led to Zainab's overall determination to make them proud in whatever she accomplished.

        It was through her parents' narratives that led to her inner curiosity to examine how other Arab refugees' lived experiences shaped their mental health. She is very passionate about advocacy and breaking generational trauma. Furthermore, in the future, she hopes to gain a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology in order to be the voice for a demographic whose stories often go unheard.

Zainab joined AAMHA so she can spread more awareness to mental health, especially in the Arab community. She also hopes to show others that help exists and that it is not something to be embarrassed to reach out for.
