Fatimah Majeed is an Iraqi who was born in Kirkuk, Iraq, but raised in Baghdad, and later moved to New York before settling in Texas. She is currently a biology major with a Pre-Med concentration at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she is working towards her goal of becoming a physician and getting an MD/PhD. During a time when conflict and instability were part of daily life, Fatimah clearly remembers seeing the effects of war—buildings destroyed, families displaced and lives lost. These experiences left a lasting impression on her and shaped her understanding of the emotional and mental toll that war and trauma can have, especially on children. Her background has fueled her passion for addressing how war, displacement, and cultural stigma affect mental health in Middle Eastern and North African communities.
