Faith & Mental Health

Hello everyone,

I’m genuinely sad to see that this post hasn’t had more activity. Anecdotally, I see Arab men and women struggling with depression often, yet many do not seek therapy, and even fewer find clinicians they feel they can identify with culturally.

I’m not claiming to be any kind of Lebanese savior. I simply know there are certain dynamics I understand firsthand from growing up within this kind of family system and cultural context, including the ways silence, pride, loyalty, and gender expectations can shape how distress is carried and hidden.

I hope to see this thread pick up. I’m going to share it with a few Arab friends and colleagues to help get more voices and support into the conversation.

Hey Kevin!

I can definitely resonate with what you're saying. It is true that many Arabs struggle with their mental health, yet, they shy away from seeking help. It's important to have conversations like this openly so that we can encourage more people to share their stories and ultimately seek appropriate care and guidance. I would definitely love to hear more about your story and get more people on this platform to share their stories so we can create a strong and supportive community for us.
